Minnesota’s Legislature is made up of 201 members, 67 senators, and 134 representatives. 34 of those members have announced that they will not be seeking reelection this November either to retire or to run for another office. With retirements comes a loss of institutional knowledge and leadership within the Legislature. Ann Rest, Chair of the Senate Tax Committee, was first elected in 1986 and has served for a total of 40 years. Other notable retirements include Senator Sandy Pappas who served 30 years, and Senator Steve Drazkowski who served 20 years. The following maps show the total tenure of each district member in years, separated by party and chamber.
