Incumbent Gov. Mark Dayton (DFL) and challengers Jeff Johnson (GOP) and Hannah Nicollet discussed issues such as local government aid, transportation and MnSure at the first gubernatorial debate held Wednesday night in Rochester. The debate was co-sponsored by the CGMC, the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce and Rochester Post-Bulletin. Jay Furst, managing editor of the Post-Bulletin, served as moderator.
More than 500 people attended the hour-long event, which was free and open to the public. It was also filmed by Pioneer TV and KSMQ and broadcast live on several Minnesota public television stations and C-SPAN, as well as filmed and live-streamed online by The UpTake.
