The CGMC has recently released a housing report as part of our efforts to highlight the steps cities are taking to review and update their zoning and land use ordinances during the local control discussions at the Legislature. The report is a compilation of stories CGMC staff have been collecting from member cities for well over a year.
The CGMC strongly believes that local zoning and land use decisions should be just that, local. This report aims to emphasize that city councils and their residents are best positioned to guide development in their own communities while underscoring the barriers they face. We have and will continue to utilize this report in discussions with lawmakers to combat the narrative that cities are not endeavoring to address the housing issue in their communities.
Thank you to the cities that completed our housing survey and shared their stories! We encourage all our members to share this report with their legislators. For any questions on this report, please contact CGMC Executive Director Bradley Peterson at bmpeterson@flaherty-hood.com.
