Last week, the Blandin Foundation and the Minnesota Office of Broadband Development (OBD) gave an update regarding the broadband infrastructure fund, which the CGMC and the Greater Minnesota Partnership were instrumental in passing during the 2014 session.
Most importantly, OBD Executive Director Danna Mackenzie noted that communities should be working on putting together project proposals now. Program details will be announced by the Office in late September and the application period will be open for 30 days. Then, there will be a six-week application review process with awards being given in late December. Until program details are released, communities can verify the areas that are eligible at www.connectmn.org, establish partners, begin designing a project and gather community support.
