The safety of our members and community is of utmost importance to the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities (CGMC). Given the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the CGMC has made changes to our summer event schedule.

After much deliberation, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 CGMC Summer Conference, which was originally scheduled for July 29 – July 31 in Red Wing. Thanks to the graciousness of the City of Red Wing and the St. James Hotel, Red Wing will now be the location of our 2021 Summer Conference. The CGMC deeply appreciates both the City of Red Wing and the St. James Hotel for their flexibility and continued support.

The CGMC membership meeting will remain scheduled for July 31, but it will be moved to a virtual setting. Further details will be provided closer to the date. As of today, the 2020 Fall Conference scheduled for Nov. 19-20 in Willmar is still scheduled to go on as planned.

Additionally, the Labor and Employment Seminars that are typically held in June have been moved to a series of online webinars addressing COVID-19 concerns related to local government workers and workplaces. The next webinar will be a COVID-19 Employment Update and Q&A with CGMC labor and employment attorneys on May 6 at 10 a.m. RSVP for the webinar here. If you have any specific questions that you would like addressed during the webinar, please email them to CGMC_Communications@flaherty-hood.com. The first two webinars can be found on the CGMC website and linked here.

CGMC will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. We sincerely apologize if this change causes any inconvenience for you. CGMC continues to actively assist Greater Minnesota communities in addressing the concerns and challenges cities are facing in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Please reach out with any questions or concerns regarding upcoming events or any city issues.

We wish you and your city health and safety during this turbulent time.

Warm regards,

Audrey Nelsen, CGMC President and Willmar City Councilor

Bradley Peterson, GCMC Executive Director
