Near the end of December, the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency (MHFA) released its list of approved housing developments, totaling $348 million in investments—the most ever selected. The 2023 projects will create and preserve a total of 4,720 single-family homes, apartments, and manufactured home community lots while supporting 7,000 annual jobs.

MHFA more than doubled its funding toward manufactured home community investments this year over 2022, with $21.5 million allocated in selections. These funds can be used for infrastructure projects such as water and sewer upgrades, storm shelter construction or repairs, electrical work, and road and sidewalk improvements.

Of the total project selections, there are:

  • 686 multi-family units in Greater MN
    • Statewide total of 1,486 units
  • Roughly 306 single-family units in Greater MN
    • Some projects have statewide scope and are not included in the 306-count
    • Statewide total of 1,314 units
  • Redevelopment grants will create 1,276 total lots in Greater MN (out of 1,920 statewide)
  • Roughly $232 million of the $348 million in total funding will go to Greater MN projects
