Gov. Dayton released his supplemental budget this week and we were disappointed to see that despite a $1.9 billion surplus, the Governor failed to include an LGA increase or additional funding for any of the CGMC’s economic development initiatives such as job training, broadband or workforce housing. (The Governor’s original budget proposal includes $30 million for broadband, far short of the $200 million recommended by the Governor’s Task Force on Broadband.)

While disappointed with the Governor’s failure to adequately fund Greater Minnesota’s needs in his budget, we will continue to work with him and his staff, as well as legislators in the House and Senate, to increase funding for LGA and other programs that will provide stability and opportunities for growth in Greater Minnesota.
