Statement from CGMC President Rick Schultz on the end of the legislative session
ST. PAUL—As the Legislature races through to its final weekend of work, the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities (CGMC) is very concerned that its two key priorities this session—a bonding bill and emergency EMS funding—could get lost in the shuffle of all the other items on the Legislature’s to-do list. While these other items are important to many, funding our infrastructure needs and shoring up our fragile EMS system are critical to building strong communities, especially in Greater Minnesota.
Failure to pass an infrastructure package and EMS funding will leave a lot of local elected officials around the state wondering what the heck has the Legislature been doing for the past four months. No bonding bill or EMS funding would leave Greater Minnesota with very little to cheer about from this session.
