The CGMC advocates for land use policies that provide for urban development in cities and preserve agriculture and open spaces in townships.

We believe good annexation and land use policies provide for more efficient delivery of government services, reduce water pollution and hold the line on infrastructure costs.

Our recent legislative successes and other notable achievements:

Successfully thwarted a multi-year attempt by townships to make some annexations more difficult.

Eliminated the county-dominated Minnesota Municipal Board, which was perpetually tilted against cities.

Eliminated the election requirement which required that both city and township residents supported an annexation before it could proceed.
