Hosted by CGMC staff, this webinar provided some insights into the recently passed EMS legislation. Over 100 attendees were able to get a glimpse into how the idea of one-time emergency aid came to be, how the session-long lobbying strategy was executed, and many of the challenges faced during the legislative session—especially how it related to the final composition of the bill.
Presenters: CGMC Executive Director Bradley Peterson and CGMC Lobbyist Erik Simonson
About this webinar
The presentation covered all the sections of the bill, including the significant changes to the regulatory board, the $6 million pilot “Sprint Medic” program for Grant, St. Louis, and Ottertail counties, as well as the $24 million dollar emergency aid program.
We also communicated to attendees that while the passage of this bill does create some momentum, much work remains to be done to really resolve many of the underlying challenges facing not only rural EMS but also rural health care as a whole.
