The fate of the bonding bill remains an unanswered question heading into an anticipated June special session.

During the regular session, the House unveiled its version of the bonding bill, HF 337, but it was never brought up for a vote by the full body. The Senate did not release a bonding bill. However, according to this MinnPost article, there still appears to be interest among many lawmakers to pass a bonding bill this year.

Although the bulk of the special session discussions center around budget negotiations, CGMC continues to push for a bonding bill. This week, we sent a letter from CGMC President Greg Zylka to Gov. Walz and legislative leaders urging them to pass a bonding bill during the special session. In that letter, Mayor Zylka highlighted the need for funding for critical issues such as water and wastewater infrastructure, child care facilities, housing programs, and the Greater Minnesota Business Development Public Infrastructure (BDPI) Grant Program.

We will continue to follow the status of the bonding bill, as well as ongoing budget negotiations, as we look ahead to the special session.
